Bermuda-based specialist insurer Hiscox has launched an updated home insurance product in the UK and Ireland markets with new covers and expanded item limits.

The product, dubbed 606 Home Insurance, comes with a new policy wording.

Hiscox says that the re-launched home insurance product will provide much more comprehensive and competitive protection for its customers’ homes and contents.

The specialist insurer reveals that Hiscox 606 Home Insurance product has been revamped to feature 20 enhancements and is available immediately for new policyholders. The enhancements will also be applicable to any future renewals as per the insurer.

Hiscox is offering personal cyber insurance as an additional optional cover to protect policyholders against online threats while also including a cover for drones in the enhanced 606 Home Insurance product.

Hiscox UK and Ireland art and private client head Justin Gott said: “We’re constantly working to improve our products and ensure they meet the evolving needs of our brokers and their customers.

“Our expanded cover takes into account new and emerging risks, such as drones and personal cyber risks, and means we can continue to deliver against our promise to provide market-leading products in those areas where we have deep expertise, backed up by our powerful brand and fantastic claims service.”

The company has given additional protection up to a maximum of £100,000 for buildings works, materials and supplies for extension, renovation or construction of home in the event of physical loss or physical damage.

Cover for item limits has been increased up to £50,000 for unspecified single fine art items and for unspecified single valuable items, the cover has been expanded to up to £25,000.

Hiscox has boosted the emergency closure in the home insurance product to cover up to £5,000 in the event of the policyholder prevented from staying or asked to leave the home by a local authority or emergency service, even in the case of no damage.
