K2 Insurance Services acquires Star & Shield Insurance
K2 Insurance Services has strengthened its insurance programs portfolio with the acquisition of public safety insurance agency, Star & Shield Insurance for an undisclosed price.
Georgia-based Star & Shield provides insurance products to those who place their lives on the line each and every day.
Star & Shield Insurance brings a range of insurance products via several insurers, with focus on personal insurance to the public safety community and their families.
The public safety community includes law enforcement, corrections, EMS, emergency management and fire rescue.
Star & Shield president and CEO Allen Durham is said to have more than 20 years of experience in the insurance and reinsurance sectors with a majority of his career seeing him involved in the public safety sector.
Durham said: “K2 brings a significant amount of expertise and product availability to Star & Shield. We are very excited to be a part of the K2 family.
“The alignment with K2 provides additional catalyst as we expand the Star & Shield product offering and grow Star & Shield to a national presence, further advancing our mission of serving those who serve and protect us.”
Star & Shield’s new parent company has formed a key group of specialty insurers and managing general agents from various parts of the US.

In January, K2’s subsidiary Allied Public Risk acquired the WaterPlus, FirePlus, and JPRIMA programs from Alteris.
